Being a lady myself I can understand the discomfort we ladies of all ages face during our days. We sort of deal a lot with our mood swings to stomach cramps but with all those love and pampers from our dear ones our days goes well but do we take our time to pamper ourselves with the best way to keep us fit during our days? If the answer is NO than read further to know how we can make a happy period day.

Having food that makes us feel better in our days

  1. The simpler the meal, the better: Simple meal helps to get it digested soon and does not make you feel bloated after food. Having light meal, less oily and simple food will help ease out the heavy feel right after our food.
  2. Consume lot’s of fluids: From drinking water to having juices and soups it’s necessary to keep yourself hydrated all throughout the day.
  3. Home cooked meal only: It is always the best to have home cooked food because we know and have full control over what goes into our plate.

Some food like whole grains, vegetables, fruits, iron rich foods like jaggery, dates, green veggies, banana stem, raw banana, seeds like sesame seeds , essential fatty acids from walnuts, flax seeds, chia seeds.

Only talking about what we should eat is not sufficient if we don’t focus on what we should avoid. We need to avoid spicy food, alcohol, fast food; also we should not fast during periods.

4. Proper rest: Along with having healthy meal throughout the day, its also important to take a break from our daily house chores and take proper rest.

There is an old practice in Indian culture to free the woman from all household works during her periods and is not allowed to go to the kitchen. This old tradition tells a lot about giving a break to the lady of the house from all kinds of work as it was more tedious back then. These leaves for the days should also be celebrated now to give proper rest to the body.
