When it comes to food in general; we focus mainly on the food taste, choice of ingredients but sort of ignore on how we clean most of our food. Of course there are a lot of chemicals available in the market like disinfectants, sanitizers but today’s blog will mainly focus on the natural and organic way of cleaning food.

1: After bringing any food items from the market it is important for us to keep those aside for cleaning and not mixing them together with the already existing food in the pantry.

2: Rinse with cold clean water to remove the external dust and dirt attached to the foods during transportation even if those are some packaged food.

3: If its the packaged food; check whether the packaging is good and tightly pack without any sort of minute openings or holes before using any disinfectants on the packets to avoid any sort of chemical diffusion on the foods which may be dangerous.

4: For fruits and vegetables, the cleaning needs special notice as we sometimes consume it raw. Repeat point number 2 and then clean thoroughly with clean water several times before consuming. You may also dip them in cold saline water so that the pesticides and insecticides that are trapped in the skin and stems of the fruits and vegetables gets out due to saline water. Saline water is a natural disinfectant.

5: For any meat clean them well with normal water and dip them in turmeric and salt water for 2 to 3 minutes before finally washing them once again.

6: Avoid any kitchen towels for wiping off the water or cleaning as these towels might contain bacteria due to reuse.

The lists sited above does not say you to avoid commercial disinfectants available in market but surely if you would like to check any natural ways our grannies’ and mamas’ used then you are at the right place. Also it is a money saving approach as you can cut down the extra money associated buying these chemicals. Do let us know by commenting how do you clean food in a effective way.
