My journey to a healthy diet began when I started looking at my grandma and she looks awesome at her age too; that is when I decided to dig about it further. Well, healthy diet is just a fancy word now but back then it was a normal day to day affair. People of earlier generations knew exactly what should they eat. On this journey I realized what should have been done and where we went wrong.
Before beginning please take a note of all these and stick it onto your wall so that gradually it becomes a habit. Let’s start
- Eat healthy fat: When people say No No for fatty food, I say I choose healthy fat and a zero fat diet is a bad diet. To know what is a good fat and what is good for you it is always advisable to check with a dietitian or nutritionist but here are a few sources of which provides considerable amount of good fats like nuts, fish, whole eggs, olive oil uncooked used only for dressing, fruits that contain fats. At the end, everything depends on the how we consume it, how we cook our food healthy.

2. Drink sufficient amount of water: Diet cannot be complete without water in the diet. It is very important to hydrate ourselves but it is also important to check how much our body can take it, excess of which may have after affects. Take a bottle that has litter markings so that you can keep a track of how much you consumed or add fruits in your diet that has sufficient amount of water content like watermelons. Adding such fruits keeps your water level and does not make you dehydrate throughout the day in case if you have a habit of forgetting to consume water.

3. Avoid sugar/Substitute with unrefined sugar: Refined sugar is really unhealthy and also leads to aging. To fix this, we can try to decrease in small amount everyday until it becomes finally a habit or if we really have a sweet tooth we can substitute with unrefined sugar or natural sources like honey.
4. Choose healthy cooking: When it comes to diet it is also important to choose our cooking methods like slow cooking to preserve its nutrients, choosing the best oil and minimal use, less is always more so using less and required amount of spices, not overly cooked food as it may lose all essential nutrients last but the most important is cooking ones own food so that we have control and knowledge of what goes into our plate and how much and reduce the number of times we go out for food.
5. Avoid soft drinks: Soft drinks contain very high amount of sugar and this should be an enough reason to skip it but to do so rather substitute it with fresh juices or market drinks that contain no preservatives and less sugar.
6. Avoid processed food:Processed food came with a concept of easing out our life with some ready made food packed and sealed with preservatives. The choice is again yours which one would you compromise? Your Time or Your Health.
